April 15, 2011 - Music Therapy Research

This week, I'm pleased to have Dr. Blythe LaGasse and Andrew Knight from the Music Therapy Research podcast and blog are my guests this week. They will tell us all about Evidenced Based Practice and how to find and use research in music therapy.

Dr. LaGasse owns a private practice (Summit Music Therapy Services) and teaches at a university in Colorado. She holds a BM in music therapy from the University of Kansas, a Masters in Music (therapy) from Colorado State University, and a Doctorate in Music Education (with therapy emphasis and communication neuroscience minor) from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk). She believes strongly in looking at the data, questioning everything, and being true to yourself and others.
Andrew Knight, MA, MT-BC, NMT Fellow, is assistant professor of music therapy at the University of North Dakota. He teaches courses in music therapy while overseeing clinical placements of students in the Grand Forks community. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in percussion performance with a jazz emphasis, and a Master of Arts degree in Music Education, emphasis in music therapy from the University of Minnesota. Other training includes a Fellowship in the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy from Colorado State University and being a registered Music Together teacher.
